About

Opening reception: Wednesday, September 23, 5–7pm ARTIST STATEMENT: What is home and what does it mean to have an identity? Is it shared or something more personal? Through painting, illustration, and installation, the artist invites viewers to explore her definition of being a Oaxaqueña (state located in the southern part of Mexico - Oaxaca) living in the US. Across the different mediums shown, she examines themes of identity, community, and sense of belonging to narrate her journey of self-discovery, all while she invites her audience to reflect on their own experiences. Throughout the exhibition, she questions her audience: What is your identity built on? What do you consider home? Perhaps home can be one place—or perhaps it is many places all at once. Exhibition on view: September 24–October 13, 2026 Gallery hours: Mon–Thurs, 9am–6pm; Fri, 9am–5pm Helen Lindhurst Fine Arts Gallery, Watt Hall
