His sound fuses the head-nodding swing of J Dilla and the beat scene with a deep love of vintage funk, disco, and soul. Out of dusty '70s and '80s samples, chunky backbeats, and warm vocal hooks, he builds sun-soaked grooves that are nostalgic, danceable, and unmistakably his own. He was one of the pioneers of the sample-based, lo-fi wave, pairing his tracks with anime clips and VHS-era visuals long before the style had a name. Since his 2016 breakout Bright Moments, he has amassed over 100 million streams and drawn acclaim from Pitchfork, MTV, and beyond.
